Characteristics of our most (and least) satisfied students.
Our Most Satisfied Customers…
Over the years we’ve found that our happiest students meet at least 4 (or more) of the these 7 characteristics:
1. Appreciate the art of teaching.
If you’ve had a great teacher in the past, you know what a difference it makes. Similarly, you may have had the frustrating experience of a mediocre instructor. As a premium language school we’re fortunate enough to attract the best local Spanish teachers.
2. Willing to pay a little more for quality.
We might cost a little more than other schools, but some things you might consider are worth paying for—including comfortable classrooms in safe and pleasant locations, a talented and experienced teaching staff, and carefully-developed course materials.
3. Want a Latin American version of Spanish.
Our focus is on teaching Spanish as it’s used and spoken in Latin America. You’ll be able to get by in Spain with what you learn with us, but it won’t make you fluent.
4. Like a change of scenery.
We’re one of the only language schools in Latin America with multiple locations—six in three countries. That means our program is ideal for someone who also likes to change scenery or wants to truly experience different accents while learning.
5. Prefer a conversation emphasis over grammar.
Our 20-hour school week includes eight hours of grammar and 12 hours of conversational Spanish If your educational goal is greater speaking and listening abilities, this arrangement is very beneficial.
6. Like meeting new, interesting people.
Our schools attract students from all walks of life. They come from countries around the world, vary in age and have an array of personal and professional interests and goals. You’ll have a chance to meet them during breaks between class sessions and our many (optional) cultural and social activities.
7. Enjoy a challenge.
We push you to reach your full Spanish potential, and why wouldn’t we? You’re investing a lot in us, and we are serious about giving you the maximum return on your investment. It may seem overwhelming at first, but you will adjust surprisingly quickly.
If you fit four (or more) of the above characteristics, chances are high you’ll be very satisfied. Please also read the below about a potential mismatch.
Our Least Satisfied Students …
However, any one of the below might signal a bad match:
1. You want a technology-based approach.
We focus on the interpersonal aspect of the language and have not invested in language labs, apps, streaming lessons, etc. We’re very “old school” (our interactive teaching style dates back to the ancient Greeks) and don’t plan to update anytime soon.
2. You are on a strict budget.
Our program is affordable to most, but we aren’t going to be the cheapest program you’ll find. You’ll have to decide if the extra quality is worth a little extra in your case.
3. You want a focus on academic written Spanish.
Our emphasis is on spoken, conversational Spanish, and we devote a majority of class time (60%) to it. You may not find us ideal to prepare your for working with contracts, writing academic papers, or performing official translations. Some schools are as strong at grammar as we are at conversation.
4. You prefer laid back, informal classes.
Our program is geared toward people who are really motivated to learn, and you will definitely be challenged. Most people appreciate being pushed, but if you want an unstructured, loose approach you might consider a less organized program.
5. You want a VIP treatment.
Our teachers will fully support your learning efforts and are very encouraging. They work hard and expect you to do the same: You will need to show up on time every day, do your homework regularly, and make a commitment to steady improvement. If you can’t be consistent or have frequent custom requests, you might consider a private tutor arrangement.
