An unfortunate problem with most study abroad programs is that students receive little, if any, language training and practical experience.
That's why your Spanish improvement is our top priority and why we have pre-professional tracks (Health, Counseling, Law, Education, Volunteer) so you can get field exposure.
This way you return home prepared to help more people and better positioned for your career and/or graduate school, instead of just having "a college experience in an exotic location."
We are committed to our mission of confronting America's language gap crisis by getting future service providers fluent in Spanish. Choose any of the following tracks:

In fact, only Mexico has more.
Today's college students are not prepared for America's demographic reality. That's why our 3-country study abroad program accelerates your language skills and develops your Latino cultural empathy.
After joining us you can gain a powerful tiebreaker on job and grad school applications. You will no longer fear rejection just because you can't check off "fluent in Spanish"
- IMDiversity
This program is designed for any student who plans to use their Spanish to make a positive impact:

A study abroad program carefully designed for your success:
The 3-Part Fluency Acceleration System is simple but very effective.
You won't need to study much as classes are small enough so you get to "learn by doing" (in this case speaking) rather than studying on your own after class.
You will notice that most college and high school classes focus mainly on Fundamentals - often leading to disappointing results...
...students that can pass grammar tests but can't converse in the real world.
Spanish is so much more than just a language skill. It helps you:
Meet some of our students...
A lack of Spanish fluency and Latino cultural empathy may cost a great deal.

"I’m just blown away by how good all of the teachers are..."
I studied on my own a little bit, never in a school, but I took a short Berlitz language class in the US. ECELA and Berlitz are not even comparable.
"ECELA is far better. Berlitz is world-renowned, but there is no comparison at all. The teachers at ECELA are trained in linguistics and how to teach language. I’m just blown away by how good all of the teachers are."
My entire experience with ECELA was beyond amazing
"Erik, a great professor and friend, always made classes very engaging with jokes, city tours and discussions on real life situations. My entire experience with ECELA was beyond amazing and I highly recommend the program to anyone looking to really learn Spanish and experience life in South America.

"I truly admire every one of our students who travels all the way to South America for this program. I
t is so much easier to stay at home - with your comforts, your family, and your friends - than to travel to a new land, where you are surrounded by people you don't know, speaking a language you don't understand.
"Thank you for doing your part to confront America's language gap crisis.”
P.S.: We recommend applying as early as you can. Your individual "student priority number" for scheduling homestays, cultural activities, and volunteer placements is given out in order of application date.
