Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaiso
The Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaiso is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This port city is distinctive for its preservation of late 19th century industrialization in Latin America and makes for great exploration. Valparaiso is the 3rd largest metropolitan region in Chile and includes the beautiful and luxurious resort town of Viña del Mar, “The Garden City,” to the north.
Pomaire and Isla Negra
If you are looking for a weekend getaway from your studies in Santiago, be sure to book a day trip to Pomaire and visit Isla Negra. Pomaire is a pottery lover’s dream and features artisan shopping, casual dining, spectacular tours and more. The town is famous for its craft fairs, markets and delicious empanadas. Your excursion can also include a visit and tour of Pablo Neruda’s house on Isla Negra. The Noble Prize winning poet has three homes, but this is his largest and most well-known. It’s also the only home of the three that is located in the beautiful coastal area of Isla Negra.
