“individuos que actúan de mala fe…” ‘Actuar de mala fe’ is when someone does something nasty or unpleasant to somebody else on purpose, causing them trouble as a result and being aware from the beginning what the consequences of their acts would be.
Example: “Tu socio actuó de mala fe cuando te propuso invertir en el negocio que utilizó para engañar a la gente. (“ Your partner acted in bad faith when he proposed you to invest in the business he used to cheat people.”) Note: in Spanish the expression “mala fe” does not necessarily have a legal connotation.
