These museums will also provide you with a more thorough understanding of the region. Cusco is located in Southeastern Peru near the Andes Mountains. The city has a wide variety of museums that cover a wide variety of subject matters. This location is a major tourist destination due, in part, to the fact that it is the historic capital of the Incan empire. In fact, Cusco was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.

Over a million visitors come yearly to the city to see the many cultural sites. When you attend Spanish school in Cusco, all of these tourist attractions will be conveniently located right in your backyard!

Even more religious art can be found in the Museum of the Archbishop’s Palace, and Museum of Santa Catalina Convent. Further, the Museum of the Convent of the Merced has paintings from the 17th and 18th century and carved stone and religious art. The Santo Domingo Church is another art museum that is housed in a 17th century church. In fact, this museum is located right on the site of the Temple of the Sun, which is a historic site. This is a magnificent building in gothic renaissance style, which has the esteemed UNESCO World Heritage status. This building displays various holy Christian artifacts including altars, the Maria Angola bell cast in 1659, and the black Christ.
