You are probably already very familiar with the Polynesian island Easter Island in the South Pacific Ocean even if you can’t recall why. It’s most famous inhabitants are their 887 monumental statues; “moai;” which were created by the early Rapanui people.
Because of its comparatively minuscule size, location some 2000 miles from mainland Chile, and its otherwise isolation, Easter Island is one of the world’s most isolated inhabited islands.
In addition to its amazing stone monuments Easter Island is recognized as a distinct eco region with many characteristics which are distinct and found only on Easter Island.
Easter Island’s caves hold many wonders, there are 200 year old (and older) wood carvings from the island. And the fact that there are only some 3700 people on the island makes its population density about 60 people per square mile.
Easter Island is a destination which you can quite literally get lost in and spend years getting an appreciation and an understanding of. Because it is so uncharacteristic of anywhere else in the world, it helps to have all your trip details worked out ahead of time.
But just because it’s distinct is no reason not to go down and enjoy all that this destination has to offer.

Las cuevas de la Isla de Pascua tienen muchas maravillas, como tallados de madera de la isla de 200 años de antigüedad (o más antiguos). En la isla solamente hay unos 3,700 habitantes, con una densidad poblacional de aproximadamente 60 personas por milla cuadrada.
La Isla de Pascua es un destino en el cual literalmente puedes perderte y pasar años apreciándolo y entendiéndolo. Debido a que el lugar es tan diferente de cualquier otro lugar del mundo, ayuda tener planeados todos los detalles de tu viaje con anticipación.
