Sitting Deep South in Chile is the capital city of Chile’s southernmost region, Magellanes and Antarctica Chilean, Punta Arenas. Punta Arenas grew from a penal colony near the Strait of Magellan to an important route for trade to a gold rush town to the thriving city and urban area it is today. It’s only been in the last decade that Punta Arenas has really broadened out its scope.
