Not only did El secreto de sus ojos win the Goya Award for Best Spanish Language Foreign Film, it also won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009. The Goya awards are considered the Spanish version of the Academy Awards. As a result, this film is considered the 2nd most famous film in Argentina’s history. The film that is considered to be Argentina’s all time most popular film is Nazereno Cruz y el lobo or Nazareno Cruz and the Wolf. This fantasy film, which was made in 1975, was an adaptation of a classical myth. It follows the story of a young man who is believed to turn into a wolf when there is a full moon.
One way that you can prepare for your Spanish immersion school is to try to figure out how each sentence corresponds with the English subtitles. Feel free to pause and rewind the movie as necessary. Through this process, you will not only start to pick up some of the language, but also your ear will get accustomed to accents and proper pronunciations.
