Denver teacher using iPods to teach Spanish

DENVER – At East High School in Denver, you can see an entire class using iPod Touches. But the students aren’t breaking the rules. They’re following the lesson plan.
Spanish teacher Noah Geisel got a grant from Qwest to buy the devices, and now uses them routinely in class. He says student engagement is the key.
“I heard a quote that you’ve got to give them what they want, in order to give them what they need,” Geisel said.
With the iPods, students can view podcasts, do opinion polls, tweet and use different apps. Students say the technology is making a difference.
“I am a teenager of the 21st century and we’re all iPod and cell phone-related, and so it’s so much more interesting in my mind,” said student Lila Wright.
