The Use of “No” in Negative Phrases & Sentences
When negative words follow the verb, no precedes it:
- No hice nada hoy. I didn’t do anything today.
- Catalina no hizo nada tampoco. Catalina didn’t do anything either.
- No vamos nunca a esquiar. We never go skiing.
However, if a negative word precedes the verb, then no is not used:
- Nunca voy al cine. I never go to the movies.
- Yo tampoco voy mucho. I don’t go much either.
