I’ve been an ECELA student for 3 weeks. They were 3 amazing weeks, I met a lot of nice people from all around the world. The teachers are very nice and they set up the classes in a very fun way. You learn a lot in class. The school also has a great selection of weekly activities, like learning to cook or make pisco, or taking trips to places around the city as well as a bit further away, like the Islas Ballestas that are more to the south. ECELA is a very well organized school. If you have the chance to do a volunteer day, I highly recommend it–it is a very unique and beautiful experience. Seeing the poor children smile makes your day brighter. The volunteer day wasn’t like work, it was more like having the chance to do good for others. By the end the children and the volunteers were all happy. Peruvian food is excellent, there is so much fresh fruit and vegetables. You have to try ceviche, tamal, and of course chicharron! The Peruvian people are also very nice, I always felt safe. The traffic takes a bit of getting used to. You might say it is a bit wild and crazy, but honestly now I miss it. Something is happening in the streets of Lima, it’s never boring! Lima was an unforgettable chapter in my life and I advise everyone to come and have a fantastic experience like I did. I LOVE LIMA!
