There’s a poster on the wall here that says ECELA is an unforgettable experience, and I agree!!! Not only the grammar and conversation classes, but also the cultural experiences, volunteer projects, and home stay helped me to improve my Spanish and learn about Argentina. In my grammar classes we learned basic concepts in a way that was easy to understand, we used examples to learn the grammar rules and then practiced them with speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. Also, we learned some Argentine idioms and a bit of Lunfardo. The conversation class was a place to practice my Spanish, get to know my classmates and discuss deep topics. We talked about history, culture, traditions, and how daily life in Argentina compared with my native country, the US. Also, to get to know the traditions we did cultural activities. We cooked empanadas, danced the tango, went to the mountains, saw a tango show, listened to music, went shopping, and did volunteer projects. The most useful thing in my experience was living with an Argentine family. They taught me things in the course of daily life that I would never have learned though a textbook. My family was very patient with my grammar and the more I practiced, the more I learned. I am very thankful for ECELA and the teachers for a fantastic experience. GRACIAS!!
