ECELA students have afternoons, evenings, and weekends free to partake in water activities and sports! I have listed a few that may be of interest along with some key details.
Surfing
When people think of Lima, Perú, they oftentimes think of surfing. Surfing is available here year-round since surfers always wear wet suits. It’s a good idea to take lessons if you’re a beginner or unsure of Lima’s waves. It’s always best to be well-prepared when venturing out into its vast ocean!

Whitewater Rafting
Whitewater rafting is popular mainly in two of our locations; Santiago, Chile and Mendoza, Argentina. You can choose your level of difficulty, and there are experienced guides to take you and your raft mates down the river. This is a good way to see the scenery and wildlife of the riverbanks if you go at a leisurely place, or it’s a great way to find excitement and a nice cool-down while surrounded by Santiago and Mendoza’s beauty.
.Swimming
Swimming is a popular activity among ECELA students, especially when they study during the summer months. It can get quite hot during December, January, and February, and a nice stroll through the ocean waves may be just what you’re looking for. Viña del Mar, Chile, and Lima, Perú offer beautiful beaches and wading or swimming. While in Lima, you may also wish to visit Aguas Calientes to take a dip in the natural hot springs. After all, hard work learning Spanish must be accompanied by some relaxation!
